Which terminal at Gatwick is a one-line answer for most travellers. easyJet, the airport's biggest airline, flies everything from the North Terminal, where it consolidated at the start of the summer 2026 season. British Airways flies everything from the South Terminal. TUI is the split case: a BY flight number means South, a TOM flight number means North, and the prefix sits right there on your booking confirmation.
Beyond the big three, the pattern is that the low-cost and leisure names mostly sit at South (Ryanair, Wizz Air, Vueling, Norwegian and Jet2 among them), joined by full-service carriers like Turkish Airlines, Air France and Air India, while North carries Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, WestJet, JetBlue and Air Transat. Why allocations move
Terminal allocations at Gatwick are commercial arrangements, not fixtures. The biggest recent move was easyJet gathering its whole operation at North in 2026 after years of running check-in on both sides. The biggest reshuffle before that came with the pandemic: the South Terminal closed in June 2020, every airline squeezed into North for 21 months, and the March 2022 reopening sent British Airways, Wizz Air, Vueling, Ryanair and Norwegian back across. So trust sources in this order: the airline's app or your booking confirmation first, the airport's screens on the day, then any printed or remembered allocation. At the wrong terminal?
It costs you about ten minutes, not your flight. The free terminal shuttle runs around the clock, leaves every few minutes and takes about two minutes terminal to terminal, with luggage trolleys allowed on board and step-free access throughout. At South it boards near the railway station end of the concourse; at North it is one level below the check-in hall.
The only time a wrong terminal becomes a real problem is at the margins of check-in: if bag drop closes in 40 minutes and you are standing in the wrong building with hold luggage, move now rather than finishing the coffee. With hand luggage only and online check-in done, the mistake barely registers.
